Teddy Chipouras is a singer/songwriter from Lovettsville, VA. He bought his first guitar when he was 12, but began getting serious about music his sophomore year at Woodgrove High School. During this time, Teddy taught himself how to play acoustic guitar and found his voice as a singer. He began performing after his sophomore year at local brewpubs including Old 690 in Purcellville and Mad Horse in Lovettsville.
Discovered playing at Old 690 Brewery one night, Teddy met Bill and Cheryl Bunce of Buncearoo, a local music promotion company. This relationship led to Teddy opening for Paul Pfau (runner up for the popular TV show The Voice), singer Matt Hires, and for Marie Miller at Catoctin Distilling Company.
Teddy has developed into a serious musician performing 2-3 venues a week. He has also played at weddings and house shows from Vermont to North Carolina. Teddy has recently had the honor of playing at larger local venues Jammin Java, Tally Ho Theatre, Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg as well as Creeks Edge Winery in Lovettsville. He has developed quite a following. He also runs the popular Open Mic Night every Tuesday night at Mad Horse Brew Pub in Lovettsville where he is constantly amazed by the amount of local talent here in Western Loudoun. Co-owner, friend, and fellow musician Michael Stephenson has become one of Teddy’s greatest fans as well as occasional singing partner. Teddy enjoys donating his time and talents by playing for causes such as Empty Bowls (proceeds donated to local food pantry) and for suicide prevention via the Ryan Bartel Foundation.
Teddy continues to grow as a musician by primarily playing acoustic and electric guitar but also mixes in some banjo, mandolin, piano, and harmonica. He accompanies his music using a homemade “suitcase” drum to keep the beat and add rhythm to his performance.
Teddy plays a unique blend of Folk Americana and has been influenced by classic artists such as Jackson Browne, The Band, and Paul Simon. Current influences include The Avett Brothers, Dawes, Gregory Alan Isakov, and Ryan Adams. Teddy draws on the story telling genre of such artists as Josh Ritter and Jason Isbell to create original songs that “take you somewhere”.
Currently Teddy is involved with HalfKing Music as a member of their singer songwriting program and is developing a catalog of high-quality, distribution-ready songs. Founder Todd Wright has had a 25-year career in the music industry performing and writing songs that have earned placement in TV and Film. Todd and Teddy are working together on songs that can be heard on SoundCloud.
Teddy has recently released his first EP including 6 of his original songs. The record was recorded in Bethesda, MD at Sucker Punch Studios. The great Mark Williams (producer, engineer, and mixer) has been an amazing mentor to Teddy. The EP, Rolling Hills, is out now and can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon ect.
